Former AAP MLA Kalkaji joins BJP
Former AAP MLA Avtar Singh Kalkaji joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, extending his support to BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Kalkaji cited a lack of progress in the area as his primary reason for supporting the BJP.
Kalkaji won the 2015 election by a significant margin of 19,769 votes against BJP’s Harmeet Singh Kalka. However, he expressed frustration over the state of the constituency under his successor, Atishi, who now represents Kalkaji. He told The Tribune, “No work has been done in the constituency for the past five years. Atishi ji never visited the area, and the party cadres were also unable to meet her, which caused a standstill in development.”
