AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj said: “Even food considered pure during fasting is no longer safe under the BJP’s rule. Today, it feels like Hindus are in danger.”

“CM Rekha Gupta, once you are done with your dandiya nights, please do take stock of the state of Delhi hospitals,” he wrote on a post on X.

Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha visited Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Jahangirpuri where several patients were admitted after consuming adulterated flour.

“People fell ill after consuming buckwheat flour. More than 200 people have already reached hospitals and are undergoing treatment. While all patients were stable and no serious cases were found, adulterated flour reaching Delhi markets is a matter of serious concern,” he said.

Jha said: “Now, even food items consumed during fasting are being adulterated. Hundreds of people fell sick and were rushed to hospitals, but the government is nowhere to be seen. Never before has Delhi witnessed such a situation. Is the government protecting these adulterators? On one hand, the BJP says there is no adulteration, while on the other, it shields the culprits. People are paying the price for this negligence.”

Leader of Opposition in the MCD Ankush Narang also held the BJP accountable. In a post on X, he stated: “Hundreds of people in Delhi fell ill after consuming adulterated kuttu ka atta. The BJP’s four-engine government has allowed poison to reach the plates of devotees on a sacred festival like Navratri. In Jahangirpuri alone, more than 150 people were hospitalised after eating kuttu atta. The question is how is adulterated stuff reaching Delhi’s markets, and who will take responsibility for food safety?”
