The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), in collaboration with the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), has commenced the implementation of a large-scale green belt development project under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Concentrix Corporation.

The project will involve the plantation of 40,000 plants, including 12,000 trees and 28,000 shrubs, along the stretch from Gate No. 5, DLF City Phase 2 to IFFCO Chowk, on Delhi Jaipur National Highway, covering a total area of 15,500 sq m. The plantation drive is designed to enhance Gurugram’s green cover while promoting native biodiversity for greater ecological resilience. The initiative combines shade-providing, oxygen-rich trees with flowering shrubs, thereby improving air quality, adding aesthetic value and attracting pollinators to the region. GMDA CEO Shyamal Misra said, “The project aligns with GMDA’s vision of sustainable urban development and climate resilience. By integrating native and diverse plant species, we are not only greening the city but also creating a healthier and more vibrant ecosystem for Gurugram’s residents.”

The plantation work is being executed by IPCA and will be monitored by GMDA to ensure plant survival and growth, with regular maintenance over the coming years. A diverse mix of native tree species will be planted, including neem, bakain, jamun, arjun, drumstick, bargad and peepal. The shrub varieties will include tecoma, chinaberry, mehendi, ixora and chandni.
