Govt begins rationalising bus routes for better connectivity

The Delhi Government has begun rationalising bus routes to improve last-mile connectivity for commuters, aiming to ensure buses run where they are needed most, based on passenger demand and travel patterns.

Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said the process involves studying overcrowded routes, identifying areas with inadequate bus services and strengthening links between buses and metro stations. “Our focus is to eliminate gaps in accessibility, reduce waiting time and make public transport the most convenient choice for every commuter,” he said.

As part of the initiative, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will restart the Dwarka Circular Service using electric buses. The revamped route will provide better coverage across Dwarka’s residential pockets, markets, colleges and offices, and improve access to Dwarka Metro Station and Dwarka Sector-8 Metro Station.

The government has also revised the route between PM Sangrahalaya and Central Secretariat. The new alignment will pass through PMML, Teen Murti, South Avenue, Sena Bhawan and Udyog Bhawan before terminating at Central Secretariat.
