The Delhi Government has announced an initiative aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in its social welfare schemes by approving the annual verification of beneficiaries receiving economic assistance. Nearly six lakh eligible beneficiaries in the National Capital Region are expected to be covered under this endeavour this year.

The Delhi Cabinet approved the measure to ensure government support reached the right people. The verification process will be conducted in partnership with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC SPV).

As part of the process, each beneficiary will undergo biometric authentication, and a Life Certificate will be prepared. Live photographs, Aadhaar details, mobile numbers and addresses will also be collected. All data will be digitised and updated in the department’s database. For beneficiaries unable to visit the CSC centres, home verification will be arranged. Additionally, a call centre and helpline will be set up to address queries promptly. After verification, each beneficiary will receive a unique digital identity card in soft copy.

The CM emphasised, “Only genuine and eligible beneficiaries will receive assistance, while those who are no longer eligible or have passed away will be automatically removed from the list.”

The verification process will be funded by the government. Fees have been fixed at Rs 70 per beneficiary at the CSC centres and Rs 100 per beneficiary for home verification. Around six lakh beneficiaries will be verified each year, at an estimated total cost of Rs 5.57 crore, covered under the 2025-26 budget.

This annual verification campaign aims to eliminate fraudulent claims, enhance the credibility of government schemes, and promote social justice and transparency. The process is set to begin shortly.
