Govt to unveil initiatives for differently abled, seniors, women students at Seva Pakhwada

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the government would observe a Seva Pakhwada (fortnight of service) from September 17 to October 2, during which 75 projects worth crores of rupees will be launched across the capital.
“The Rekha Government is not only working swiftly to transform the capital into a ‘Viksit Delhi’, but is also rapidly completing projects for those sections of society that previous governments ignored,” the CM added.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate 15 major projects at the Thyagaraj Stadium on September 17. Among these are the Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel for visually impaired students, the Atal Asha Home for intellectually disabled persons and the Savitribai Phule Senior Citizens’ Home.
Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel
The CM informed that the Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel, built near Timarpur, close to Delhi University, was a unique initiative for visually impaired girls pursuing higher education. Constructed at a cost of Rs 13.42 crore, the plot covers 3,703.43 sq m with a built-up area of 975 sq m (ground and three floors) and a total capacity of 96 students.
Atal Asha Home
The Atal Asha Home, constructed in Narela, stands as a model facility for intellectually disabled individuals. Built at a cost of about Rs 40.60 crore over 12,500 sq m, the complex has a built-up area of 1,719.55 sq m (ground and three floors) with the capacity to house 220 residents.
Both Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel and Atal Asha Home have been named in memory of Bharat Ratna awardee and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Senior citizens’ home
The Savitribai Phule Senior Citizens’ Home has been constructed in Paschim Vihar at a cost of Rs 10.64 crore. Built on a plot of 2,257 sq m with a built-up area of 510 sq m (stilt, and upper ground and four floors), the facility can house 96 residents.
