Two accused wanted in the murder of a key witness in the Najafgarh double murder case were apprehended after a police encounter in the early hours of Friday morning in Sector 99, Gurugram, police said.

The accused have been identified as Mohit (29), a resident of Goyla Khurd, Chhawla, Delhi, and Jatin (21), a resident of Vipin Garden, Dwarka Mor, Delhi.

The duo were wanted in connection with the murder of Neeraj Tehlan in Najafgarh and were arrested in a joint operation by the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Sector 40, Gurugram.

According to police, a total of six rounds were fired by the accused, out of which one hit the bulletproof jacket of Head Constable Narpat and another the left arm of Sub Inspector Vikas.

The police team also fired back in self-defense, in which both the accused sustained injuries to their legs and were shifted to Civil Hospital, sector-10, Gurugram for treatment, the police mentioned.

On February 9, 2024, Sonu Tehlan and Ashish Tehlan were shot dead at point-blank range following a heated argument at the ‘Scissor Dot Comb Salon’ in Indra Park, Najafgarh. Neeraj Tehlan was also a target in this murder but escaped and was a key witness in the case.

He was shot dead on July 5, 2024, in the evening while he was driving his car.
