Haryanvi music took centre stage in this year’s DUSU polls. Popular singer Masoom Sharma not only composed a song for Aryan Maan, presidential candidate from the ABVP, but also joined the student outfit’s rally on the campus, energising supporters with his presence.

On the other side, singers Anu Malik Sarsa and Hardik Takkar released campaign songs for Rahul Jhansla Yadav, vice-presidential candidate of the NSUI, urging students to back him. Haryanvi artiste Candy Sheoran too voiced her support for Rahul, asking students to vote for him and help the NSUI.

Celebrity endorsements have made the elections even more glamorous. Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda threw his weight behind ABVP’s Aryan Maan.

Influencers and YouTubers are also actively campaigning. Ajay Ghudaiya, a popular YouTuber, endorsed Govind Tanwar (ABVP), while bodybuilder Mohan Yadav lent his support to Rahul Jhansla Yadav. Wrestler Neeraj Goyat and producer Pradeep Dhaka have backed independent candidate Umanshi Lamba.

The list of endorsements is long, singer Manoj Duhana (MD) is campaigning for Govind Tanwar, while Haryanvi singer Kulbir Danoda (KD) joined Masoom Sharma in rooting for Aryan Maan.

Political, organisational support

Beyond entertainment, organisations and politicians have also weighed in. The Sanyukt Ahir Regiment Morcha (SARM) has extended its support to Rahul Jhansla Yadav. On the ABVP side, Krishan Pal Gurjar, Lok Sabha MP, backed the student outfit through social media posts.

Social media buzz

Endorsements are not just limited to rallies. Campaign videos, reels and celebrity shout-outs are circulating widely on Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp, catching attention not only among students but also in older age groups. The fusion of politics with pop culture has made this year’s election one of the most talked-about in recent memory.

Star-studded affair

Traditionally fought with posters and manifestos, the DUSU elections have now evolved into a star-studded affair, where music videos, celebrity endorsements and influencer shout-outs are as important as classroom campaigning. As voting day approaches, it is clear that Haryana’s cultural force and India’s entertainment industry have made the campus poll a bigger spectacle than ever before.
