What initially started as a heated argument between a woman and a teenager boy over racist remarks ended in a tragic murder. The woman’s husband, who tried to intervene into the matter, was fatally stabbed to death in Shahdara here, the police said on Tuesday.

The police received a PCR call regarding a quarrel around 11:56 pm on October 27 at the Seemapuri police station. The caller, identified as Fareen, a resident of New Seemapuri, alleged that a youth known to her had passed obscene remarks and abused her. When she objected, the accused reportedly continued abusing and even assaulted her.

During altercation, Fareen’s husband Akbar Ali Mirza stepped in to mediate. However, relatives of the accused, including his maternal uncle, allegedly joined in and attacked Akbar Ali with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police and forensic teams visited the crime scene for investigation.

Akbar Ali Mirza was listed as a bad character (BC) of the Seemapuri police station.

A case of molestation and murder had been registered and two persons had been detained, officials said.
