A man died while his brother suffered injuries after being hit by a train near the Gokulpur Saboli Halt railway station in East Delhi on Friday. The mishap took place near the Meet Nagar flyover when the duo, identified as Sonu (36) and Monu (34), residents of Ashok Nagar, were reportedly consuming liquor. Rakesh Paweriya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East), said Sonu died on the spot, while Monu was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. “The two were sitting near the tracks and consuming alcohol. They were unable to move away from the approaching train,” DCP Paweriya said. The police have recorded the statements of the family members and witnesses. Inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 174 of the CrPC (unnatural death) and further investigations are underway.
