The police have arrested three employees from a café and an outlet at a mall in the Sector 53 area for serving hookahs, containing nicotine, to customers.

A joint team of the CM Flying Squad and the Drug Control Department that conducted raids seized nine hookahs and intoxicants of various flavours in large quantities from the premises.

An FIR was registered against eight persons — Kamal, Parbhakar, Shivam Kakkar, Kashish Aneja, Hemant Puri, Vikas, Pankaj and Sajid.

According to the complaint filed by Inspector Amandeep Chauhan, Drugs Control Officer, the joint team raided M/S Xero Degrees, G-20 café, located at Central Plaza Mall in Sector 53, to verify a secret complaint that alleged a hookah cafe was running and serving nicotine-containing tobacco molasses to the general public.

“During the search, we found flavoured tobacco molasses duly labelled as containing Nicotine, smoking coal and hookahs from the premises. Senior managers Kamal and Parbhakar were asked to produce valid licence for selling nicotine, but they could not produce any licence. Nine hookahs with tubes, Chilams and cloud attached to these hookahs, eight boxes of pure coconut coal, 13 packets of mouthpiece and huge quantities of tobacco molasses were recovered from the premises,” stated the Inspector.
