It is alleged that the JE had demanded Rs 6 lakh for this work, but the 'deal' was finalised at Rs 5 lakh. A case has been registered against the JE under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The complainant, liquor contractor Gopal, had acquired six liquor contracts in the district along with his partners. State authorities had served him a notice asking him to remove his two shops at Shahpur Jat Chowk and Malerna village. In this regard, he met JE Naresh Kumar, who demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh per shop in lieu of not having those demolished.
“When I did not give the bribe, the JE demolished the shops on August 19. The JE then threatened me that if I did not pay the money, he would demolish the liquor shops in Ashoka Enclave and Uncha village. He demanded Rs 6 lakh. Later, he agreed to Rs 5 lakh but I moved to the ACB,” the complainant said.
After receiving a complaint, the ACB team laid a trap on Friday and arrested the JE red-handed near a petrol pump in Sector 12.
