The accused, Vikas alias Anagha, associated with the infamous Anil Chippi and Kala Jathedi gangs, sustained a bullet injury in his right leg and was later shifted to a hospital.
The police got a tip-off about Vikas’s movement with an illegal firearm, following which a trap was laid near Hiran Kundna Mor in Southwest Delhi.
When the team intercepted him, the accused fired three rounds at the police party.
One of the bullets struck the bulletproof jacket of Head Constable Sandeep, narrowly averting injury. The police fired two rounds and overpowered the accused.
Preliminary interrogations revealed that the accused is involved in several heinous cases, including a murder registered at Sampla, Rohtak, an attempt to murder case and a robbery-cum-murder case at the KN Katju Marg police station, Rohini, Delhi.
