AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal approached the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, contesting a trial court’s decision to take cognisance of a chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The plea is expected to be listed for hearing on Thursday.

Kejriwal’s petition challenges the trial court’s order, arguing that cognisance was taken without the required sanction for prosecuting him as a public servant at the time of the alleged offence. The AAP leader seeks the high court’s intervention to set aside the order.

Earlier, on November 12, the Delhi High Court sought the ED response to another petition from Kejriwal challenging the summons issued by the agency in the same case. However, the high court declined to stay the trial court proceedings.

The Supreme Court had granted Kejriwal interim bail in the money laundering case on July 12 and in the CBI case linked to the alleged scam on September 13.
