Union Minister Hardeep Puri launched a strong attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of failing to fulfil promises made to the people of Delhi in 2020. Puri, addressing a press conference in the National Capital on Sunday, claimed that Kejriwal often tries to “divert attention” when confronted with tough questions about his governance.

“People come and make such statements, and when they are asked questions, they try to divert attention,” Puri said, adding that Kejriwal, the former Delhi Chief Minister, had initially garnered attention with his promises and anti-corruption movement.

He reflected on the early days of Kejriwal’s political career, saying, “When he started his journey, many of us at Ramlila Maidan believed it was a movement against corruption. We were also somewhat impressed by his persona—the muffler, the front seat of the Wagon R, and his vow never to join politics.”

Puri also reminded the audience of Kejriwal’s unfulfilled promises, citing his 2022 guarantees in Punjab, where he pledged to provide Rs 1,000 per month to women and vowed to make the state drug-free.
