A recent claim by Arvind Kejriwal, National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), that a woman’s vote was deleted during the registration of the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana,’ has been debunked by the woman herself. The controversy erupted during a programme in Kidwai Nagar on Monday, where Kejriwal introduced a woman, Chandra, alleging her vote had been removed from the electoral rolls despite holding an EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card).

However, Chandra, a resident of Kidwai Nagar and a registered voter in Trinagar constituency, refuted the claim. “I have never had my vote cut. I always cast my vote and I don’t know why they mistakenly said it was cut,” she said. “It could have been a misunderstanding. My vote hasn’t been cut, so there’s no need for a new one.”

Chandra’s clarification has raised questions about the accuracy of Kejriwal’s statements. In response, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused the AAP leader of spreading falsehoods. "Kejriwal is a master at deceit. It’s now proven that his claim about Chandra’s vote deletion was a lie," Sachdeva said, criticising Kejriwal for creating confusion with baseless allegations of widespread vote deletions in Delhi.

Sachdeva also suggested that Kejriwal’s recent claims of personal attacks might be fabricated as well. “After the false story about Chandra’s vote deletion, it’s likely his accusations of attacks on himself are self-created incidents,” he added.

The controversy comes amid ongoing allegations from the BJP regarding the presence of illegal voters in Delhi, particularly from Bangladesh and Myanmar. Sachdeva speculated Kejriwal’s discomfort with these allegations might be linked to AAP’s reliance on such voters for electoral success. “Possibly, these illegal infiltrators are the foundation of AAP’s electoral success,” he remarked.

The incident has added fuel to the growing political tension between the AAP and BJP, as both parties continue to clash over issues of voter integrity and election fairness in the national capital.
