The visit was aimed at addressing residents’ complaints and reviewing waterlogging-prone areas ahead of the monsoon. Speaking to the media during the inspection, Khattar said the residential buildings, constructed by the Ministry of Building and Construction (MBC), had some minor issues, which are common in new constructions.
“It is natural for new buildings to have some minor shortcomings. We have been receiving complaints. Today, we are here to inspect the situation. We will have a joint meeting within a week and ensure that the residents here do not face any more inconveniences,” he assured.
Khattar also inspected key areas vulnerable to waterlogging, including Sarojini Nagar Market, Lodhi Estate and NBCC housing complexes. He directed civic officials to complete all pending drainage and sewage-related work before the onset of monsoon to prevent disruptions.
“I mentioned that today in Sarojini Nagar, we are reviewing the flats and the nearby market area, including showrooms. Later, we will visit Ravi Estate, where the issue of waterlogging, especially during holidays, remains a serious concern,” Khattar noted.
The Union Minister emphasised that ensuring smooth civic functioning and infrastructure readiness ahead of monsoon remains a priority for the ministry. He said coordinated efforts between the NDMC and the central agencies would be made to address both structural and civic deficiencies in government housing colonies.
