The unanimous decision was taken at a meeting of the DPCC Disciplinary Committee chaired by senior Congress leader and former Delhi minister Dr Narendra Nath at Rajiv Bhawan.

Announcing the action, Dr Narendra Nath said no individual was above party discipline.

“The Congress is the country’s oldest political party. We function within the framework of discipline, policy and collective responsibility. No worker or leader can damage the party’s interests through indiscipline,” he said.

Nath said the party was supreme and no worker or leader should be above the party to indulge in anti-party activities, which are detrimental to the interest of the party.

The decision, he added, was conveyed to AICC Disciplinary Committee chairman Tariq Anwar

and AICC general secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal.

Ex-MLA Anil Bhardwaj, who was present with Dr Nath, said Raju’s expulsion under Clause 19 (C)/4 of the Congress constitution serves as a clear message that indiscipline will not be tolerated.
