However, they will not get any financial benefits of the honorary rank including pension, it added. More than 88,000 Delhi Police personnel will benefit with this move.
The moves comes after Ministry of Home Affairs had in May, granted honorary ranks (above their existing posts) to personnel of the CAPF and Assam Rifles, at the post of Constable to Sub-Inspector, on the day of their superannuation, without financial or pension benefits. Delhi Police had then moved a similar proposal for approval from the L-G.
Personnel in these non-gazetted ranks who complete two years at their present rank, have good annual performance appraisal reports (APAR) for the past five years and have not faced any major punishment during their service shall be eligible.
Sub-Inspectors at the time of superannuation will be granted the honorary rank of Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) will get the rank of Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables of ASI and Constables of Head Constables, the notification added.
The notification further mentioned that the grant of honorary ranks to retiring personnel offers formal recognition of long and dedicated service, enhances morale of serving as well as retiring personnel, promotes respect, discipline and pride within the force.
