The incident, which took place in the wee hours of April 19, prompted an immediate and coordinated response from various emergency services.

As per officials, the rescue operation is still going on with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) working tirelessly to remove the debris and locate any remaining individuals trapped under the rubble.

“Preliminary assessments suggest that it may have been unauthorised construction,” a senior official said, adding that the authorities were diligently working to ascertain the cause of the collapse.

The official said the enquiry would delve deeply into the circumstances surrounding the collapse, examining all relevant facts and identifying any lapses or acts of omission and commission that may have played a role in this disaster.

The enquiry will also seek to hold accountable those individuals and entities involved in the construction and oversight of the building.
