Delhi Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena today gave nod to give 181 acres of land to seven educational institutions in a push for establishing an education hub at Narela. Officials said 1,082 flats in the area have also been allotted to these universities as per their demand.

These seven institutions include Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi Technological University (DTU), Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-D), Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU), Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU), Delhi Teachers University (DeTU) and Indira Gandhi Delhi Technology University for Women (IGDTUW).

This will result in the DDA receiving around Rs 1,300 crore for land and additional revenue for the flats. During the last few years, the DDA has been able to sell about 8,000 flats out of its unsold inventory, a Raj Niwas official said.
