Legislation ‘anti-student’, alleges Congress

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav led a protest by parents outside the Delhi Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday to oppose the Delhi School Education Bill, 2025, terming it “anti-student” and “anti-people.” Yadav accused the BJP government of pushing it through the Assembly without public consultation, stating, “BJP Government forces the Delhi School Education Bill on people without any public debate only to favour schools at the expense of students and parents.”

Drawing a parallel with the farm laws, which were later repealed, Yadav argued that the government “passes Bills without consensus or agreement from the people” and insisted that input from parents should be sought before introducing such legislation. Yadav criticised the absence of any provision in the Bill to roll back tuition fee hikes implemented earlier in the year. Highlighting the financial stress, he added, “Already, many parents are unable to afford the steep hike in tuition fees implemented by some schools, and the provisions in this Bill only embolden other schools to follow suit.”
