Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta has launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of embezzling Rs 250 crore through a recruitment scam at the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). Gupta claimed that public funds were funnelled through dubious contracts with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Gupta stated, “The AAP’s much-touted education revolution is nothing but a facade for corruption. They have looted public money under the guise of reforms.”

Gupta pointed out irregularities in recruitment at DSEU, alleging that AAP bypassed standard regulations like those of UPSC and Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB). “The AAP filled the university with political appointees and cronies, some of whom are earning salaries as high as Rs 3.5 lakh, more than the Vice-Chancellor,” he claimed.

Criticising the university’s lack of infrastructure, he said, “There are no labs, no proper water and electricity connections on DSEU’s 23 campuses. Against the required strength of 1,700 non-teaching staff, only 85 are currently employed.”

Gupta also highlighted the misuse of funds through BCG, alleging, “Rs 100 crore was spent on advertisements alone, while fake bills amounting to Rs 60 crore still pending. This is a blatant misuse of public money.”

Accusing the AAP of betraying students, Gupta said, “The DSEU has failed to obtain AICTE approval for its courses, eroding trust among students and parents. The university is on the verge of collapse.”

Demanding accountability, Gupta urged, “I challenge Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to an open debate on this so-called education model. The people of Delhi deserve answers.”

He called for the Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) to intervene and initiate a thorough investigation into the scam, saying, “This education scam threatens to cripple an entire generation.”
