The fire, which engulfed the entire Anarkali Complex in Block E-3, broke out around 2 pm. The multi-storey building houses a private bank, several offices and a pizza outlet.

The fire also spread to a nearby Delhi Development Authority (DDA) shopping complex. DCP (Central) M Harsha Vardhan said firefighters and police personnel contained the blaze and secured the area.

Officials said the fire initially started on the second and third floors where renovation work was underway. Strong winds accelerated its spread.

“Initially, eight fire tenders were pressed into service. As the flames spread rapidly, more tenders were deployed to contain the blaze,” a DFS official added.

The fire also spread to a private bank inside the complex. No one suffered injuries as the bank was not operational today. Several vehicles parked nearby were gutted in the fire.
