The matter came to light when a 24-year-old woman approached the police with a complaint, alleging that Sohil engaged in sexual relations with her on the false promise of marriage. She told police that the accused secretly recorded intimate videos of her and later uploaded them on Instagram.

Based on her complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the BNS and an investigation was launched.

Investigators used call detail record (CDR) analysis and inputs from secret sources to locate Sohil. He was subsequently arrested. The police are investigating whether other individuals were involved.
