According to the police, a PCR call was received at 6.23 pm on July 11 about a man lying injured in a ground near Madanpur Khadar. Sonu Kohli was rushed to a private hospital and was put on ventilator support. As he was unfit to give a statement, a case of attempted murder was registered at the Kalindi Kunj police station.

“A team was constituted which analysed CCTV footage from the area. The footage showed Sonu with Ram Avatar shortly before the incident,” said the official.

He said the probe revealed that the duo was consuming alcohol at the spot when an argument broke out over money that Ram had lent to Sonu. “In a fit of rage, Ram picked up a brick and struck Sonu twice on the head, causing severe injuries,” he said. He was arrested on Saturday from Jaitpur, the police said.
