Acting on a tip-off about a resident posing as an IAS officer, police raided the premises and recovered Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, multiple fake identity documents — including a Home Ministry ID card, three Aadhaar cards — a letter regarding the transfer of an additional inspector, a fake arms licence and several other items. An FIR has been registered against him at Palam Vihar police station.

Police also seized Pathak’s car, which bore ‘Government of India’ markings on both the front and rear.

“During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had only completed the 12th grade. He would extort money from individuals by claiming he could secure jobs or transfers for them, posing as an IAS officer from the Home Ministry and boasting about his IAS rank,” said Gurugram Police.
