Man held for threatening to shoot female employee
Gurugram police arrested a man within hours after he allegedly threatened to shoot his female employee and fired shots in the air in the Sector 44 area. Police said the arrest was made possible due to the prompt and effective response of the force’s emergency response vehicle.
A motorcycle and a country-made pistol along with two cartridges were seized from the possession of the accused. He was produced in a city court and has been remanded in police custody for four days for questioning.
According to the complaint filed by Laxmi Verma alias Mehak, a native of North Delhi currently residing in the Sector 44 area, she has been working for the past month in a private management role with Satyavrat alias Satya Pandit, who also lives in Sector 44.
“The incident took place around 10.15pm on Wednesday night when I, along with my friend Anu Rajput, was going to the HUDA market in Sector 53. When we were near Kanhai Colony, the accused Satyavrat alias Satya Pandit came on a bike. He stopped the bike in front of me and threatened to shoot me. Not only this, he took out his pistol, waved it in the air and fired about four to five rounds in the air. I informed the police by dialling 112 and an ERV reached the spot in time. After seeing the police, the accused managed to flee,” said Laxmi Verma alias Mehak in her complaint.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Sushant Lok Police Station and the accused was arrested from a nearby CNG pump in the Sushant Lok area on Thursday. The arrested man has been identified as Satyavrat alias Satya Pandit, a resident of Gopalganj in Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
“We are questioning the accused after taking him on four days of police remand after being produced in a city court,” said a spokesperson for Gurugram police.
