In a gruesome crime that has shocked the Capital, the Delhi Police on Thursday arrested a 22-year-old man, Siddharth, who allegedly murdered his father, mother and elder brother at their residence in South Delhi’s Maidan Garhi area, officials said.

They said Siddharth was nabbed near the AIIMS Metro station when he tried to end his life by jumping on the tracks from the platform. Security guards at the station foiled his suicide bid and handed him over to the police.

During questioning, Siddharth confessed that he had killed his family members.

The deceased have been identified as Prem Singh (48), his wife Rajni (45) and their son Ritik (24). Their bodies were found with deep knife injuries on their throats and faces smashed. The police recovered two bloodstained knives from the house.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan, the police received a PCR call on Wednesday evening from a house in Satbari Khark village. The caller stated that there was blood all over the house and he needed immediate help.

When the police reached the spot, they found two bodies on the ground floor and another one on the first floor. Another family member, Siddharth, was found missing.

Chauhan said the accused was undergoing psychiatric treatment.

“Documents related to his treatment and medicines recovered from the spot suggest that he was undergoing treatment from multiple mental health institutions for the past 12 years. He was a victim of OCD and aggressive behaviour,” the cop mentioned.

However, locals alleged that Siddharth was a drug addict, frequently quarreled with his family, smoked excessively and consumed intoxicants with friends.
