The accused had misled the police by fabricating a story about an alleged robbery attempt after the murder but later confessed. The accused, Sahun, revealed that he had murdered his wife because he was dissatisfied with the dowry she got and had doubts about her character.
Nearly 15 days ago, a similar case had come to light in Hajipur Gauheta village, wherein a man had misled the police by narrating a false story of molestation and robbery after murdering his wife, but the police had solved the mystery and the accused was arrested.
In the recent case, late on Monday night, Sahun strangled his wife, Sania, to death near a factory on the Karhera-Bhadas road. After the murder, he lodged a complaint at the Nagina police station, claiming the couple had been robbed by some miscreants. He said his wife was murdered during the robbery attempt, and his motorcycle was set on fire.
A police spokesperson said several teams were formed to investigate the matter. When a team detained the woman’s husband on Tuesday morning and interrogated him, he revealed that he was not satisfied with the dowry given during the marriage and he had doubts about his wife’s chastity, due to which he murdered her.
