AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday hit out at the Centre and BJP while expressing strong objection to Delhi Lt Gov VK Saxena recommending CBI investigation into contentious Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 of his government. The Ministry is headed by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Coming out in defence of Sisodia, Kejriwal said this is a move to arrest the Delhi Deputy CM, just as the Centre got another minister Satyendra Jain arrested under a false case.

While lauding Sisodia for his successful efforts to reform and modernize government schools in the national capital, Kejirwal said Centre is trying to derail the AAP government from undertaking progressive works, but it will not be deterred.

“We are not afraid of going to jail…we will not be frightened no matter how much you penalise us…Jain, Sisodia or me,” Kejriwal said.

“You are sons of Savarkar and we are followers of Bhagat Singh,” Kejriwal added. He said the traditional parties are corrupt and have taken the country and Delhi backwards.

“They want to prove that AAP leaders are also corrupt like them,” Kejriwal said. He also questioned the constant move to fabricate AAP leaders in false cases.

He said the Centre and the BJP are perturbed at the expansion and growing acceptability of AAP across the country, especially after its poll victory and formation of government in Punjab.

Lieutenant Governor Saxena had today recommended an investigation by CBI into the Delhi government’s contentious new excise policy. Citing a report by the Chief Secretary, he said the Minister In-charge of the Excise Department, Manish Sisodia, was involved in corruption and worked to benefit liquor barons causing massive losses to the exchequer.
