Mayor inspects pollution hubs in Jahangirpuri, Bhalswa areas

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi conducted an inspection on Saturday at the air pollution hotspot near the ITI building in Jahangirpuri and Bhalswa areas amid rising pollution levels in the city. During her visit, she checked the Air Quality Index (AQI) at the ambient air quality monitoring station and directed officials to implement large-scale water spraying with dust suppressant powder in heavily polluted areas.

In addition to her inspection at Jahangirpuri, Mayor Oberoi visited the Majlis Park area to assess cleanliness and sanitation conditions. She expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the service road, where garbage and dust accumulation posed health risks to commuters and residents.She instructed the Deputy Commissioner of the Civil Lines Zone to take strict action against the Sanitary Superintendent and Sanitary Inspector responsible for maintaining the area. “Every resident deserves a clean and healthy environment.

We are committed to enforcing accountability and taking swift action to improve and maintain cleanliness standards across the city,” Oberoi stated. Oberoi urged residents to support these initiatives in the fight against air pollution, saying, “Collaborative efforts between the MCD and the Delhi government are essential to reduce pollution levels in our city.”

The Mayor also highlighted the allocation of Rs 20 lakh to each of the 12 municipal zones for pollution-curbing measures. She reiterated that strict action would be taken against those involved in open burning of garbage or violating construction and demolition (C&D) waste regulations.
