An 18-year-old MBBS student has accused a 20-year-old acquaintance and his two friends of drugging, sexually assaulting and blackmailing her repeatedly for almost a month in the Adarsh Nagar area of northwest Delhi.

The victim, a medical student originally from Jind, Haryana, stated that she was invited by someone she knew from her hometown to a hotel for party on September 9.

According to the police, the accused spiked her drink. The 20-year-old accused raped her, while two of his friends recorded the crime. The victim alleged that the other two men also sexually assaulted her.

The accused later used the videos to blackmail her, forcing her into subsequent assaults throughout September, threatening to share the video on social media.

The police lodged a case based on the woman’s complaint, officials said. No arrests have been made so far. Hunt is on to nab the accused, they said.

Notably, Delhi recorded the highest number of rape cases among India’s metropolitan cities in 2023, according to the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report.

In 2023, Delhi reported 1,088 rape cases – the highest figure among 19 metropolitan cities, the report mentioned.
