In a festive gesture, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has released Diwali bonuses to its employees well ahead of the festival this year. Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh announced on Wednesday that a total of Rs 48.70 crore had been disbursed to staff across MC headquarters, zones and hospitals for the financial year 2024–25.

Calling it a “Diwali gift to employees,” the Mayor said this marked a significant step in the civic body’s ongoing efforts towards employee welfare and administrative efficiency. For the first time, the MCD’s Finance Department has adopted an online bonus bill generation and disbursement system through its Pay Module, aimed at ensuring a faster, transparent, and smoother process for payments.

“This innovation has made it possible to credit the bonus directly and promptly to employees,” the Mayor said, adding that the system also allows Drawing and Disbursing Officers to process bonus bills for retired, repatriated and deceased employees eligible under the rules.

Mayor Singh congratulated the Finance Department for implementing the digital module and reiterated the MC’s commitment to leveraging technology for better governance and employee satisfaction.
