This year’s standout placements include trainee reporting roles, research positions with national television networks, content creation roles and paid editorial training programmes leading to confirmed appointments. Notably, DSJ students have secured positions in several reputed media organisations, including Dainik Jagran, Zee TV, NDTV, News Nation and Informist Media.
“My journey from the Delhi School of Journalism to Amar Ujala has been transformative. The faculty’s constant support, hands-on exposure and focused placement guidance played a vital role in shaping my career,” said Pranjal Roy, who has joined Amar Ujala as a Trainee Reporter.
In addition to confirmed placements, the 2024-25 session also saw a significant increase in quality internships for third- and fourth-year students. From anchoring and research to digital content creation and field reporting, students were offered a diverse range of internship opportunities across national and digital media platforms. Approximately 65 per cent of middle-year students gained valuable industry experience through internships with media houses such as Aaj Tak, India Today, Politicalbazaar.com, Yesya Media and Swadesh 24x7.
The improvement marks a dramatic leap from previous years. In 2023, DSJ recorded just two placements and five internships. The following year saw a modest increase to three placements and nine internships. However, 2025 has seen an exceptional surge, with 13 confirmed placements and 19 internships — a clear indication of the institute’s growing engagement with the industry.
Spearheading this transformation is Dr Sanjay Verma, the newly appointed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at DSJ, whose leadership has brought fresh vision and strategic direction to the institute.
“Delhi School of Journalism has the potential to become a national hub for media education and industry-ready training,” said Dr Verma. “We aim to create a vibrant, future-ready ecosystem where students are exposed to both academic rigour and practical excellence. The focus will be on expanding professional networks, inviting industry mentors and making DSJ synonymous with quality journalism training.”
Dr Verma’s approach emphasises mentorship, experiential learning and institutional collaboration — all vital components in preparing students for the fast-evolving media landscape. The Training and Placement Cell at DSJ has also played a pivotal role in this year’s success.
