Universities should be reimagined to realise social responsibility & community engagement. India’s ancient knowledge systems should be revived and the philosophy of sustainable practices and Sarva Mukti (freedom for all) should be the vision of education.— Subhas Sarkar, mos for Education

Hosted by the International Institute for Higher Education Research and Capacity Building at OP Jindal Global University, the summit commenced under the theme ‘Universities of the Future: A Global Partnership for Social Justice and Sustainable Development’.

Set to conclude on February 21, the summit features 25 thematic sessions held virtually in the first two days with participation from over 120 academicians, representing over 100 leading universities across 20 countries and six continents.

On the third day, ‘Higher Education Leaders’ Conclave’ will be held on the university campus in the offline mode. VCs, deans and faculty from various Indian universities will attend the conclave.

The Minister underscored the transformative potential of universities. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he emphasised the importance of education that helps to build character.
