Minister inspects waterlogged areas in Janakpuri West

Heavy rains lashed the Capital on sunday, leaving several areas submerged under water and exposing the city’s recurring civic challenges. Among the worst affected was Janakpuri West, where Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood undertook an on-ground inspection to assess the waterlogging situation.

Sood was seen wading through flooded streets, interacting with residents who voiced their difficulties, and directing officials to expedite drainage and relief measures. In a striking moment that drew public attention, the minister was photographed scooping water from a roadside drain with a mug, a symbolic act underscoring the extent of flooding and the urgency for solutions.

“Inspected the waterlogging situation in Janakpuri today. Spoke to locals to understand their concerns and directed officials for immediate action. My commitment is to ensure every possible relief for citizens and to prevent such hardships in the future. All arrangements are being swiftly streamlined in public interest,” Sood wrote in a post on X.

The heavy downpour disrupted life in multiple residential and commercial areas, causing traffic snarls and inconvenience to commuters. The incident has once again brought civic preparedness into sharp focus, with the residents urging authorities to strengthen drainage infrastructure to avert such recurring troubles during the monsoon season.
