The minister, accompanied by Dwarka MLA Pradhumn Rajput, also inaugurated civic works in the Janakpuri Assembly constituency.
The works include construction of RCC drains in Chanakya Place Part 1, Part 2 and Sitapuri, and road construction in J&K Block and Ram Dutt Enclave.
After the inspection, Sood directed officials from the Delhi development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation (MCD) and the Public Works Department and Flood Control Department to prepare a coordinated action plan to address the situation. He instructed the officials concerned to resolve the stray cattle menace in the area.
“Strict instructions have been issued to resolve problems of garbage management, cleanliness and stray cattle on Nala Road in Ward 118 within the next 15 days,” the minister said.
Sood added that the construction of drainage infrastructure will play a major role in addressing the persistent waterlogging in the area.
He said, “The drain, connecting to Pankha Road, will resolve the long-standing problem of waterlogging in the area. In the coming days, similar works will be carried out across all roads in Janakpuri. The waterlogging issues in this area will be completely resolved within six months.”
“The Delhi Government, in coordination with the MCD, is making every possible effort to keep the Capital clean. Under the direction of the Chief Minister, the Urban Development Department has provided Rs 175 crore as assistance to the MCD. Additional support will be provided, if needed, so that people can have clean roads and well-maintained lanes,” Sood added.
The minister hit out at past administrations for “neglecting” civic needs and said the current government was working systematically to remedy legacy issues.
Sood also issued directions against unauthorised dairy units operating in residential zones and said strict action will be taken against such establishments.
