BJP MLA Abhay Verma has been appointed as the chief whip of the Delhi BJP legislative party, the party announced on Tuesday. The decision was made during a meeting of the Delhi BJP legislative party held at the Delhi Assembly complex in the presence of party’s Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Verma, a two-time MLA from Laxmi Nagar, was chosen after discussions among party legislators, who entrusted the final decision to Sachdeva. The appointment was made following consultations with the legislative party head and the CM.

Announcing the decision, Sachdeva praised Verma as a prominent face of the Purvanchal community in Delhi’s politics. He highlighted Verma’s extensive experience as an MLA and his legal expertise, which are expected to help him efficiently fulfill his responsibilities as chief whip.
