Mock drill: ABVP calls on youth, students for active participation

In wake of the heightened national security concerns, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called on youth and students to actively participate in the nationwide civil defence mock drill on May 7.

The drill comes in the backdrop of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and growing cross-border threats. The ABVP has emphasised that the exercise is a critical measure aimed at enhancing both civilian and institutional preparedness.

As part of the mock drill, several emergency protocols will be tested, including air raid warning sirens, crash blackout procedures and evacuation rehearsals for civilians. Participants will also be trained in essential safety measures for emergency situations.

Highlighting the importance of collective national responsibility, ABVP asserted that safeguarding the country is not only the job of the armed forces but also a shared duty of all citizens, particularly the youth. It stressed the need for educational institutions — schools, colleges, and universities — to become hubs of awareness and preparedness.

ABVP’s national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said, “We urge all students, teachers, administrative officers and citizens to take part in this exercise with full dedication.”
