Nehru Stadium, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji and Ayanagar also logged rainfall.

The downpour slowed vehicular movement on key stretches. Traffic jams were witnessed around ITO, Lajpat Nagar and Connaught Place as vehicles crawled through waterlogged patches.

IMD scientist Akhil Srivastava had forecast moderate rainfall over Delhi-NCR, with some areas expected to receive heavy showers. “Similar conditions are likely tomorrow. For the remaining days of the week, light rainfall is expected,” he said.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), minimum temperatures in the city ranged between 23 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperature was recorded between 32 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius — both below normal by 1-3 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has predicted that the national capital will witness a week of light rain and thundershowers, with generally cloudy skies till August 30.

The air quality remained in the “satisfactory” category with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 63 at 4 pm.
