Delhi witnessed the coldest morning of the season on Wednesday with the minimum temperature dipping to 8 degrees Celsius, the lowest in November since 2022, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

After logging 9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, Delhi’s minimum temperature dropped 3.3 degrees below the seasonal average. The maximum temperature on Wednesday stood at 25.1 degrees Celsius.

Before Wednesday, the coldest day this year was on November 17 when the minimum temperature was 8.7 degrees Celsius.

In 2024, the lowest minimum November temperature was 9.5°C, while it was 9.2°C in 2023.

In 2022, the city recorded a low of 7.3°C, the lowest November temperature in recent years.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality showed no signs of improvement. The air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category, with the AQI hovering around 327 by 4 pm on Wednesday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to the IMD, cold conditions are likely to persist. The maximum temperature on Thursday is likely to hover around 24 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 9 degrees.

A slight rise is expected on Friday, with a forecast minimum temperature of 11 degrees and a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius. The month is expected to end on a chilly note as well, with the minimum temperature predicted to touch 12 degrees Celsius on both Saturday and Sunday. The maximum temperature for the weekend is likely to be around 26 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
