NSUI protests against Education Minister’s remarks on Tamil Nadu

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) organised a protest outside Shastri Bhawan on Wednesday, condemning Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s comments on Tamil Nadu. Led by president of the Delhi unit of NSUI, Ashish Lamba, the protest saw students raising slogans and accusing the BJP regime of disrespecting regional identities and linguistic diversity.

A heavy police presence was observed at the protest site, with barricades set up to prevent demonstrators from advancing. Despite this, NSUI activists stood firm in their opposition to what they described as BJP interference in education policies.

The chairman of the NSUI media department, Ravi Pandey stated, “Dharmendra Pradhan’s remarks are not just an attack on Tamil Nadu but on India’s federal structure. The BJP government is persistently attempting to impose its ideology on states, disregarding their autonomy. NSUI will not tolerate such an insult to Tamil Nadu or any other state.”

Pandey alleged the BJP is attempting to centralise education through the National Education Policy (NEP) and other measures, which he claimed were designed to impose a single ideological framework across the country.

The student wing of the Congress party has pledged to continue protesting against what they view as the BJP’s attempts to control education policies and suppress regional voices.
