Nuh Police arrest four cyber fraudsters

The Nuh police have arrested four cyber fraudsters, including two brothers, in connection with three separate cases of online crime. The accused employed various tactics to defraud innocent people across the country.

In the first case, Asif, a resident of Basedi Bas village in Nuh district, was apprehended near Jaitalka village. A mobile phone containing two SIM cards was seized from him. The police said Asif used these numbers to scam people by selling used vehicles and goods online. Victims included Vishal from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, who lost Rs 5,770, and Kailash from Nagpur, Maharashtra, who was defrauded of Rs 19,000. During interrogation, Asif admitted to the crimes.

In the second case, brothers Waris and Zaheer, residents of Lafuri village, were arrested for creating fake social media profiles of attractive women to befriend and exploit victims. They would film obscene videos of their targets and extort money by threatening to release the footage publicly. The police seized multiple mobile phones, fake SIM cards, barcodes, fake Dream11 posts, photos of women and pornographic videos from the suspects. Waris operated two WhatsApp profiles under the aliases of social workers “Salman” and “Mukesh RBI.” Complaints include a Rs 20,000 fraud reported by Hassan from Karnataka and Rs 67,500 from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh.

In the third case, Haseen, a resident of Pachgaon village in Nuh district, was arrested for extorting money through false text messages sent via the Rapido ride-sharing app.

“Nuh police have uncovered these scams through various fraudulent methods, with technical investigations of the recovered phones and SIM cards ongoing. It is expected more related cases will emerge soon,” said a police spokesperson.
