A major fire broke out at a house in Gai Wali Gali, Motia Khan area, here on Sunday afternoon due to a LPG cylinder blast.

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received a distress call around 3:01 pm, following which four fire tenders were pressed into service to control the blaze.

Due to the LPG cylinder blast, the fire spread rapidly. Two firefighters were injured during the firefighting operation. After the fire was brought under control, the officials “discovered a completely charred body on the fourth floor” of the house, said DFS officials.

Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg said after the blaze was brought under control, the charred body of a person was recovered from the fourth floor of the house. The deceased is yet to be identified.

Two firefighters - Ravinder Singh and Ved - sustained injuries during the firefighting operations when the LPG cylinder exploded. They were immediately taken to the hospital.

The firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
