Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday accused the opposition parties of making “baseless allegations” against the Election Commission and the government, saying such statements undermine democratic institutions.

Citing recent remarks by AAP leader Sanjay Singh alleging rigging in the Delhi elections, Sachdeva said this contradicted former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s February 8 statement accepting the poll results as the people’s verdict. “AAP leaders have turned themselves into political caricatures,” he alleged.

The BJP leader said across states, people were rejecting the opposition parties in democratic elections, but instead of accepting defeat, these parties — led by the Congress — were questioning the credibility of the Election Commission.
