Opposition slams AAP for ‘neglecting’ south Delhi

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri have voiced concerns over the alleged neglect of south Delhi areas, particularly Sangam Vihar, by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Talking about the dire living conditions in Sangam Vihar, Sachdeva emphasised the lack of development and erratic water supply in the region. He thanked Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena for inspecting the conditions at the grassroots level.

He said, “Residents of south Delhi, particularly those in unauthorised colonies like Sangam Vihar, endure dire living conditions due to inadequate development, maintenance and water supply.” He highlighted that the entire area from Tughlakabad to Chattarpur had AAP legislators for the past nine years, yet AAP has failed to ensure development in the area.

Sachdeva added, “In this entire region, roads are broken, there are no sewers, drains frequently overflow and sanitation conditions are neglected. There is a terror of tanker mafia in this area while water supply in the pipelines is often absent for weeks.”

Meanwhile, during his meeting with Lieutenant-Governor Saxena, Bidhuri thanked him for allocating Rs 1,000 crore for the development of Delhi’s villages. Bidhuri emphasised the positive impact of Saxena’s visits to unauthorised colonies. He said, “Work that should be done by the Chief Minister, his Cabinet members and local MLAs, is being done by the Lieutenant-Governor.”

Bidhuri advised the Kejriwal government to learn from Saxena’s visits instead of politicising the issue. He urged the government to address serious problems highlighted by the Lieutenant-Governor and provide relief to the public.

“The government should come forward to provide relief to the public rather than blaming officials to hide its failure,” he added.
