Addressing a gathering, she urged citizens to turn the anti-drug fight into a collective social responsibility, stating that the Delhi Government is fully aligned with the national vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India) by 2047 — a goal set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“When India celebrates 100 years of Independence in 2047, we must be able to present it as a healthy, empowered, and drug-free nation,” said Gupta.
The event saw participation from senior Delhi leaders, including Cabinet Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh, MP Manoj Tiwari, and MLAs Om Prakash Sharma, Sanjay Goel, and Dr Anil Goel. The dignitaries, along with hundreds of attendees, took a collective pledge to work as a team against the menace of drugs.
In her speech, the CM spoke of two forms of “intoxication” — one destructive, through drugs, and the other constructive, driven by patriotism and service. “We must channel our youth’s energy into building the nation, not destroying lives,” she said, praising the discipline and sacrifice of the armed forces as an example of positive passion.
She appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drugs by calling the helpline 1933, which connects directly to senior police officers.
The CM said around 1,100 people involved in drug-related offences were arrested in the last four to five months, leading to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics.
“While the government, police and civil society are working in tandem, public participation is essential in this mission,” she said.
Cabinet Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh echoed CM’s remarks, stating, “The Delhi Government is not just running programmes, it is leading a people’s movement against drugs. The fight to protect our youth will reach every street, every neighborhood, and every household. A drug-free India by 2047 is our collective responsibility, and Rekha Government is committed to fulfilling this dream with full force.”
