Piyush Goyal briefs VP on key commerce, industry initiatives

During the meeting, the Vice-President was briefed on the key initiatives and activities of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Discussions included the current status of manufacturing and foreign trade, as well as a range of government efforts aimed at improving ease of doing business, strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities and positioning the country as a global export hub.
Among the flagship programmes discussed were Make in India, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, Start-up India, the National Manufacturing Mission, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), One District One Product, industrial corridors, Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and the protection of intellectual property rights.
The Vice President appreciated the Ministry’s efforts in promoting India as a global hub for manufacturing and exports, and acknowledged its initiatives to explore and enter new international markets.
He also emphasised the need for coordinated action among all government departments to realise the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
