All public representatives above 50 years of age and those below 50 with underlying conditions will be covered in the subsequent phase. The Covid-19 responders hope the inoculation of top personalities will help stave off hesitancy.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan acknowledged hesitancy challenges for the vaccine drive, saying: “It is paradoxical that other countries are asking for access to India-made vaccines and our people are doubting it due to misinformation”.

The Health Minister launched a communication drive to address hesitancy. After 2,33,530 inoculations today, the total number of health workers to get vaccinated stands at 10,40,014. — TNS
